The Lead Mechanical Engineer is accountable to the Engineering Manager and will be the client’s representative for all mechanical design aspects on the Client's Project.
Key Accountabilities:
• Have an overriding commitment to a Zero Harm environment.
• Review of contractor and supplier designs.
• Manage contractor and supplier progress in line with the project schedule and cost budgets.
• Review and approve project documentation eg. Drawings & specifications.
• Resolve design problems.
• Coordinate project designs with other engineering disciplines and key stakeholders.
• Participate in project reviews and workshops eg. Risk analysis, Safety in design, operability and constructability.
• Minimise discipline design changes and vigorously pursue disciplined change management.
• Provide discipline reports on a monthly and weekly basis.
• Provide mentoring to national engineers.
• Whilst on the project site work with construction, QA/QC and commissioning to resolve engineering conflicts and contribute to a smooth and seamless handover to the operations end user.
Professional Qualities
• Hold a degree level Mechanical Engineering Qualification.
• Have +10 years experience in the mining industry on large projects
• Knowledge of mechanical systems design.
• Fluent in the English language and preferably with a command of the Russian language.
• Experience working in cold climate preferred.
